About mudra
Meaning of mudra:- The Sanskrit word mudra is translated as 'gesture' or 'attitude'.
- The Kularnava Tantra traces the word mudra to the root mud, meaning 'delight' or 'pleasure'.
- Mudras can be described as psychic, emotional, devotional and aesthetic gestures or attitudes.
- Mudra is also defined as a 'seal', 'short-cut' or 'circuit by-pass' .
सर्वं द्रव्यं पांचभौतिकम्|
- The entire universe is composed of only pancha mahabhutas which include all the living and non living articles including human beings ,drugs, diet articles etc. Akasha, vayu, agni, jala and pruyhivi mahabhuta are the panchamahabhutas maintains the health of the person.
- According to samanya vishesha siddhanta described in ayurveda which explains about administration of similar quality of that of object increases the quantity of object and administering opposite quality of that of object reduces the quantity of object.
- Pancha mahabhutas which are very important for the entire Ayurveda and applied each and every aspect of Ayurveda. In Ayurveda doshas, dushyas, parts of the body, time (nityaga, avastika), desa, everything has been described basing on their predominance of pancha bhutas.
- Applying the same concept, in the body if there is any depletion and increaseed status of panchamahabhuta constituent is present then that can be balanced by mudra. The panchamahabhuta can be controlled with fingers by performing different mudra.

Mudra sets up a different
link and has a correspondingly different effect on the body,
mind and prana.
महा भूतानि खं वायुः अग्निः आपः क्षितिः तथा।
शब्दः स्पर्शः च रूपं च रसो गन्धः च तद् गुणाः॥
तेषां एक गुणः पूर्वो गुण वृद्धि परे परे।
पूर्वः पूर्व गुणः च एव क्रमशो गुणिषु स्मृतः॥(च.शा.१/२७-२८)
link and has a correspondingly different effect on the body,
mind and prana.
